The Legend of Io :Vale of Darkness:

Story: So basically your a kid named Io to start with, you grew up on a large chunk of land that is seemingly floating in mid air, and you were raised as a thief by your fathers best friend. your parents went off when you were young and you haven't seen them since.
one day for some reason a rock slide happens on the mountains bellow a few days later Quarex, your mentor, say's your going to join him in the fields for hunting. so you get down there and you meet him in the north fields and another rock slide happens, Quarex somehow gets lost in a cave where you then go to rescue him, upon entering the cave you enter some sort of alternate warped dimension where you obtain a sword for protection then whoosh your back in the cave as if nothing had happened. so you get through the cave and you don't find Quarex but when you get about half way through a few tunnels collapse, and what do you know the one behind you does too. and that's how your journey begins!
